The weapons in Red Dead Redemption 2 have numerous ammunition types that you can purchase and craft. Once you have the ammo, you’re going to need to select it to use it though. This quick guide will explain how to switch ammo types in RDR2.
When selecting a weapon in the weapon wheel by pressing the LB/L1 Button, you can cycle to the weapon that you would like to equip. You can use the LT/L2 and RT/R1 buttons to cycle through your weapons. Once you’ve landed on the weapon that you’d like to equip you can then cycle through the different ammo types that you have available by pressing the d-pad left and right.
The different ammunition types available are regular (default), high velocity, split point, express, and explosive.
Toggling through them will equip that bullet type until you run out.
To get more special ammunition you’ll either need to craft it or purchase more.
