Red Dead Redemption 2: Change Run to Left Stick

You can make it feel more like a first person shooter if you want.

In Red Dead Redemption 2 you’re going to be doing a lot of running.  As is the case with games from Rockstar, this means that you’re going to be pressing the A/X Button, a lot.  Thankfully, you can switch this in the controller settings menu of the game.

You can switch the run button to something more familiar like pressing in the left thumbstick to sprint.  A lot of games use the left stick for sprinting, especially in the first person shooter genre and there’s a setting that you can switch that allows you to run with by pressing in and holding that left stick in.

Just head into Settings, then go to controls.  From there you’re going to want to select the Standard FPS option for whichever camera view you are playing on, or you can change it for both.  Running with the left stick in first person mode really feels like a great way to play the game in that camera view.

In third person view, running feels good as well and is not a bad way to play the game.  Either way you can mix and match these control schemes for the different camera views to what feels best to you.
