Planning out game two right now.

Final Fantasy VII Remake had the big blowout it deserved at Square Enix’s E3 conference last night, which gave us our fair share of gameplay. One reveal during the event was that this first game would be covering just Midgar, yet would be two discs all on its own. This led us to wonder how many games total Final Fantasy VII Remake may be in the end, but it sounds like Square Enix isn’t even sure at this point.

The original Final Fantasy VII was split into three discs, with the Midgar portion taking quite awhile to play through. A lot of people had speculated that perhaps the remake would be split into two, with the first being Midgar and the second being the rest, but that may not be the case after a tweet from Kotaku’s Jason Schreier, who spoke with Final Fantasy VII Remake producer Yoshinori Kitase at E3.

This was followed by someone responding to Schreier saying that Square Enix certainly knows and just isn’t saying, in which he went further by saying “No they were very clear – Kitase said they’re in the process of planning out the scope for game 2 right now.”

It is very interesting to hear that they don’t even know how many parts the game will be at this point. This tells us that we probably won’t be seeing the second game for awhile now. Hopefully these won’t be spaced too far apart though, especially if there are more than two entries in the end.

Final Fantasy VII Remake releases exclusively for PS4 on March 3, 2020.
