PokeCoins in Pokemon GO

PokeCoins are the in-game currency in Pokemon GO. You can earn them for free or you can buy them with real money. Regardless, they are useful in a lot of different ways. Since collecting a lot of PokeCoins can be time consuming or just plain expensive, here are the best items to buy with your PokeCoins in Pokemon GO.

How to Get PokeCoins

The only free method to get PokeCoins is through gyms. Every ten minutes you are in a gym fighting with your Pokemon, you’ll receive one PokeCoins, which means you get six in an hour. These will be rewarded to you once your Pokemon gets knocked out. Also, you can only get 50 PokeCoins a day from gyms.

The other way to get PokeCoins is by buying them with real money. Like almost all free-to-play games, there is a way to buy the currency and get the best gear. 100 PokeCoins is $0.99, 550 PokeCoins is $4.99, and so on with the more PokeCoins giving you the better the deal.

Best Ways to Spend PokeCoins

Now that you know how to get PokeCoins in Pokemon GO, you’ll definitely want to know how best to spend them. The first item you’ll definitely want to snag is the Event Boxes. These boxes are always worth one PokeCoin and will reward you will tons of great items. The Event Box is obviously only available during special events, but it usually contains things like Max Potions, Poke Balls, and Remote Raid Passes.

The second and third items you’ll want to buy as soon as possible are the Item Bag and the Pokemon Storage. Both of these items cost 200 PokeCoins, but they are well worth it. The Item Bag permanently increases the number of items you can carry to 50 and the Pokemon Storage permanently increases the maximum number of Pokemon you can store.

What you want to avoid buying are Poke Balls or Incubators. You’ll receive free Poke Balls from spinning Poke Stops and by completing Field Research. Unless you are hatching multiple eggs daily, you only need one or two Incubators.

The last item worth your PokeCoins is Community Day Boxes. These boxes are only available during Community Days and, like the Event Boxes, offer a lot of great items for one low price. Each Community Day box is different so make sure you know what you are buying, but usually, you’ll pay around 975 PokeCoins for multiple items such as Lucky Eggs, Super Incubators, Elite Fast TM, Star Pieces, and more.
