The trailer shows Raphael, Donatello, and Mikey playing real-life Fruit Ninja and recording themselves while Leo looks at the mess from behind, knowing someone will get hurt. This sets the tone for the trailer and, hopefully, the whole feature. The previous movies didn’t manage to get the “teenage” vibe, so we relied only on the games of the franchise. Now things seem to be changing.

Besides being funny and showing some action, the trailer also presents the visuals of iconic characters like April O’Neil and Superfly. They have great designs that seem to fit well the setting and story. We also get a look at Bebop and Rocksteady, two mutants who appear to be helping Superfly’s accomplish evil plans. They are strong but dimwitted, which will definitely be used to create many hilarious jokes.

After Spider-Verse, many animated movies have drawn inspiration from its unique animation style and fluidity, like the new Puss in BootsMutant Mayhem seems inspired by Spider-Verse while having its style, which is a sketchbook style that mimics a teenager’s comic book drawings. It’s edgy 90’s aesthetic is captivating and will hit you like a truck due to bringing back the TMNT nostalgia we grew up with as kids. Animated movies keep improving, and the TMNT movie is another step in the right direction. We’re in for a treat.
